CineMAA Awards : Prasthanam, Vedam share top honours

         
         This year's awards season started off with a bang at HICC,Hyderabad where CineMAA awards were presented by MAA Tv. The awards were announced for the year 2010 and there were no major surprises. However, it was endearing to see critically acclaimed films like Prasthanam, Vedam and Ye Maya Chesave sharing top honours in front of a packed audience. Several big stars like Nagarjuna, Balakrishna, Mohan Babu, Allu Arjun, Karthi, Vishal and other eminent personalities like Brahmanandam, SP Balu, K Vishwanath, D Ramanaidu were present on the occasion apart from scores of other actors, directors and producers.
As the show took off, it had become clear that the awards were being given to both critically acclaimed films and also to popular hits like Simha, Maryada Ramanna among many other films. S P Balasubramaniam won the Lifetime Achievement award this year. The highlight of the show was MAA TV announcing a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs apart from an award for Nagayya who got a Jury appreciation award for his role in Vedam. This year, Balakrishna was judged the best actor for Simha and Kajal won the best actress award for Brindavanam. Deva Katta's Prasthanam won the Critic's choice film award and Krish won an award for Critics choice director. Anushka won the Critics choice actress award while Prabhas won a similar award in actors' category. Maryada Ramanna was judged the Best film, while Gautham Menon bagged the Best director award and A R Rahman won the Best Music Director award for his work in Ye Maya Chesave. Priyamani, Charmi and Vimala Raman performed to several hit songs and Allu Arjun, Kamal Kamaraju walked on the ramp during a special segment.
